Chris is Mersive’s Regional Sales Director for the UK and Ireland, supporting our sales team and opportunities throughout the region. Learn more about Chris below.
What is your role at Mersive and what do you do?
I’m the Regional Sales Director for the UK and Ireland. I lead our field-based team in my region, supporting both pre- and post-sales opportunities. I tend to wear multiple hats – from technical design to a 15-minute sales pitch-all – to ensure we are providing the best experience for our customer. I thoroughly enjoy the chase, even cold-calling a new lead to get us in front of the queue; the excitement of a new prospect starting a journey and then becoming a global standard.
Before working at Mersive, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Hmm…it’s been a long time, but a group of friends and I started a company providing mobile content for a large ISP in 15 countries – this was before the iPhone and smartphones, fun times and lots of coding.
If you could switch your job with anyone else within Mersive, whose job would you want?
Hmmm…. I would have to say Rick Emery (CRO) or Troy Suttle (VP of Marketing). I would love to take a look behind the curtain into managing so many salespeople in so many regions, countries, and time zones and still be as calm and collected as Rick always is – and achieve our goals. I am sure there is a lot more to this and would love to see. With Troy – again similar to Rick – the ability to understand different cultures and create content is amazing. Glocal operations aren’t as easy as they seem and being global and creating a global brand while localizing for each region is something I am keen to understand.
People would be surprised if they knew about you.
I have never been to India. I’m originally from the Caribbean.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I always wanted to be a doctor, funny how things have changed though. My dad is a pharmacist, my elder brother a nurse, and my younger brother a doctor. I instead opted to marry a doctor, my wife is a rheumatologist.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time! With two kids ages two and six, I’m not sure this exists anymore. But I do love fishing and traveling.
What places have you lived in?
Trinidad and Tobago, England.
What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?
It would have to be the internet and by extension, although years later – the smartphone. I can’t imagine a world without both. Napster was a dream… Google it if you’re too young.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Eat less, your body will thank you later on… 🙂
Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster?
Tiny elephant.
What advice do you have for prospective Mersive candidates?
Mersive is a fast-paced company and with that you have to be patient and dynamic, I recall when I joined Mersive we had less than 60 employees and now we are over 150+ . The Executive Team is open and your contribution is always heard. Although we have grown relatively quickly, you would find at the core we really are a close bunch.
What are your hopes for our industry?
More compatibility within systems, an agnostic approach serves the customer better. If we put the customer needs first we will ultimately all succeed.
