The Need for Effortless, Reliable Wireless Screen-Sharing

Reliable conference room wireless screen-sharing is critical for the World Health Organization’s Strategic Health Operations Centre. This ‘situation room’ is where global public health events unfold and where international communication during health emergencies happens.

The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo is one of the WHO’s six regional offices around the world. The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region comprises 21 member states and occupied Palestinian territory, with a population of nearly 745 million people.

A Challenging Installation

In direct response to the pandemic, Interactivo—a leader in audio-visual integration across Greece, Southeast Europe, Egypt, and North Africa—worked closely with the WHO to make sure the SHOC room was ready for the potentially high-stakes meetings that would happen within its walls.

“Around the time of the pandemic, there was a push to equip boardrooms with better collaboration, conferencing, and wireless screen-sharing devices,” says George Khayat, CEO and Founder of Interactivo. “The SHOC room also had this demand, but the emphasis on reliability was even more pointed. The SHOC room installation had many obstacles. We were working under tight timelines in response to COVID. Plus, the WHO is a secured location where access and connectivity are already challenging. For example, we couldn’t install anything during working hours, so we had to send in night crews to integrate the room’s AV and collaboration systems.”

Connecting Without Limits

Despite these hurdles, Interactivo managed to integrate a world-class conference room AV system into the SHOC room. The centerpiece is a stunning ultra-wide TVF Series Leyard 1.2 millimeter fine pitch LED video wall that integrates with the WHO’s existing Cisco video conferencing. The screen is connected to a Mersive Solstice Pod that makes it easy for meeting attendees to wirelessly connect and share their content within the video-conferencing system without being connected to the conference itself.

“Thanks to Mersive Solstice, users can share their content easily and without the hassle of being invited to (and then connecting to) a meeting. This is truly effortless collaboration and saves time when it’s of the essence,” says George Khayat, CEO and Founder of Interactivo.

Crestron automates the screen and lighting in the room, along with other room functions.

The AV Ecosystem

Mersive is part of an ecosystem of products from top brands. For example, the LED video wall and conference room lighting are automated and controlled by a Crestron system. TOA speakers, known for their ability to deliver great sound in lively public spaces, deliver high-intelligibility sound.

Finally, a Bosch CCS 1000 D Discussion System features a microphone and loudspeaker that are activated simultaneously to create natural face-to-face meetings. The Bosch system also connects to dynamic translation capabilities. The user simply connects the ‘translator’ headset and chooses the language they want to hear.

“At Interactivo, we install Mersive solutions in many of our top-performing systems where reliability, security, and ease of use are crucial.”
